Algiz Haven consolidates a few not-for-profit charitable entities that have helped people in NSW with affordable accomodation, skills training, education, wellness, inter-faith meetings, and programs to relieve poverty since 1979. All profits from any of our programs help to fund this proposed housing project which will include all of those programs on-site for the residents and surrounding community.
Our Logo
Algiz Haven: Named for the Norse rune ᛉ Algiz (meaning protection & sanctuary), honouring our founders` Nordic heritage and the ancient Nordic tradition of communal villages that sheltered the vulnerable., provided protection, community, mutual care, and a safe place to belong, in small villages where people looked after one another through harsh winters and difficult times.
We chose a basic outline of a house to represent the home that everyone needs and inserted the Algiz rune inside it to symbolise safety and protection of the home and people living in it.
Housing is a basic human right. That was agreed upon at the United Nations in 1948 in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
